Fabric bands vs latex mini bands
Thin latex mini bands are cheap, but they tend to roll into a cord and pinch the skin when you squat, and they slide down the leg. Fabric grips skin and leggings, so the band stays flat and in place for a whole set.
| Fabric bands (this pack) | Thin latex mini bands | |
|---|---|---|
| Rolling up | Rolls far less, because the fabric grips | Often rolls into a cord mid-set |
| Comfort on bare skin | Flat, wide band | Can pinch and pull hair |
| Material | Cotton-polyester elastic fabric | Latex |
| Best use | Glutes and hips | Light warm ups, shoulder work |
| Washing | Hand wash cold, air dry | Wipe only |
If you have a latex allergy, fabric bands are the better pick from this range, since the long loop set and the leg band set are both latex. For a severe allergy, contact us to confirm the material details before you order.
Where to put the band
- Just above the knees: the standard spot for squats, glute bridges, hip thrusts and clamshells. Push the knees out against the band.
- Round the lower thighs, standing: lateral walks and monster walks. Stay low and keep tension the whole time.
- Round the ankles: standing kickbacks and side leg raises. This is harder, so start with the band that feels easiest.
- Round the forefeet: lying hip abduction and fire hydrants for people who find ankle placement too much.
The further the band sits from your hips, the harder the same band feels. Try all three bands on your first session and note which one lets you finish each exercise with good form.
A 20 minute glute session
Do this two or three times a week. Use a mat for the floor moves. Rest about 45 seconds between sets.
- Glute bridge, band above the knees: 3 sets of 15, pause 2 seconds at the top.
- Banded squat: 3 sets of 12, knees pushed out against the band.
- Lateral walk: 3 sets of 10 steps each way.
- Clamshell, lying on your side: 2 sets of 15 each side.
- Standing kickback, band round the ankles: 2 sets of 12 each leg.
- Frog pump: 2 sets of 20 to finish.
When a set feels easy, move to the next band or slow the movement down. More options are in glute exercises at home and the lower body home workout.
Who it suits, and who should pick something else
- Suits: anyone training glutes and hips at home, gym-goers who want a band in their bag for warm ups, and runners doing hip stability work.
- Suits: beginners. At $30 the pack is the cheapest way to add resistance to bodyweight leg work.
- Pick something else: for upper body work, assisted pull-ups or overhead pressing. Short fabric bands only go round the legs. The Resistance Band Loop Set (5 Levels) at $59 covers those.
- Pick something else: if you want heavier hip thrusts. Fabric bands add side-to-side tension; for load in the hips, a dumbbell across the hips does more. The 5kg pair is $48.

$45Frequently Asked Questions
How much are fabric booty bands delivered in Australia?
The three-band pack is $30 AUD. Delivery is priced by postcode in the cart and is about $6.11 to any capital city, so about $36 all up. Regional postcodes are about $10.18 in delivery.
Do fabric booty bands roll up?
Fabric bands roll up far less than latex mini bands, because the fabric grips skin and leggings. That keeps the band flat and in place through a set of squats or bridges.
Are fabric resistance bands latex-free?
The bands are cotton-polyester elastic fabric rather than latex rubber, which makes them the better choice in the range for people with a latex allergy. For a severe allergy, contact us to confirm the material details before ordering.
Where should a booty band go for squats?
Just above the knees. Push your knees out against the band as you squat. Moving the band lower towards the ankles makes the same band feel harder.
Can I wash fabric resistance bands?
Yes. Hand wash them in cold water and let them air dry. Store them in the carry bag that comes with the pack.
Are fabric bands enough for a glute workout?
For most people starting out, yes. Bands add resistance to bridges, squats, lateral walks and kickbacks. As you get stronger, add a dumbbell for hip thrusts and goblet squats.
